High School Activism

Over the course of the past several months, high school students around the country have carved out a significant role in leading the crusade to end the genocide in Darfur. Recognizing the important role they serve in promoting awareness and educating others who remain unaware of the atrocities, students created websites, organized letter-writing campaigns, led school-wide assemblies, and traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby their congressional representatives.

As the genocide in Darfur continues, the involvement of high school students continues to escalate. In addition to websites created by high school students (listed below), please take advantage of the resources on this page and throughout our website as you continue to take charge of ending the violence and restoring peace and safety in Darfur. Your hard work and determination will make a difference in ending the suffering of the people of Darfur.

STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition is organizing on over 500 college, university, and high school campuses across the United States. They are working hard to increase awareness about the genocide, raise relief funds, and advocate for political action to end the genocide.

Help Darfur Now is an organization for middle and high school students. The mission is to raise awareness of and provide funds for the victims of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Financial contributions raised by the organization are sent to aid organizations located in Darfur and are used to purchase food, medicines and shelter for the refugees.

Teens 4 Peace was established as a means of building an ongoing organization for and by teens to address ongoing issues of social justice. The website aims to clearly articulate issues of social injustice, to educate teens as well as the general public about these issues, and to work toward their resolution. The organization seeks to raise consciousness about the need to become involved and to mobilize teens to take action.
